BOTOX® Cosmetic, XEOMIN®, and Dysport Aesthetic® are some of the most popular and effective wrinkle treatments we offer at our Mississauga and Toronto clinics. These injectable products are classified as neuromodulators or neurotoxins because they use the active ingredient botulinum toxin A to temporarily smooth out wrinkles by suspending the contractions of facial muscles. Dr. Michael Weinberg and his experienced team offer a variety of safe, effective options for facial rejuvenation without surgery.

Are You a Good Candidate for BOTOX & Other Wrinkle Treatments?
Women and men from Oakville, Brampton, and surrounding cities often seek medical help for lines and wrinkles that give away their age and make them look tired or grouchy. One cause of such lines is repetitive muscle contractions that occur in the course of normal daily facial movements. Eventually, this repetitive folding causes so-called “dynamic” lines in the overlying skin – especially as skin becomes thinner, less elastic, and less supple with age. At our BOTOX clinics in Mississauga and Toronto, we offer BOTOX COSMETIC®, XEOMIN®, and Dysport Aesthetic™ to improve skin appearance by preventing the contraction of facial muscles that lead to lines and wrinkles. “Dynamic lines” include:
“Bunny” lines on either side of the nose
Smoker’s lines above the lips
Horizontal forehead lines
In addition to softening dynamic lines, BOTOX may give a more pleasant, less “grouchy” expression and can give a shinier, smoother quality to the skin.
Typically, up to 5 injections of botulinum toxin A are required in any given area. The actual number of units needed varies with a number of factors, including:
Specific wrinkle-relaxing product
Depth of wrinkles
It can take several days, sometimes up to 2 weeks, to see the full effect of treatment.1 The cosmetic benefit typically lasts 3 to 4 months.1
Our neuromodulator patients typically return every 3 to 4 months to maintain their results. With each treatment, our team will review your results and recommend the best time for your follow-up treatment.
How Much Are BOTOX, Dysport, and XEOMIN Treatments in Mississauga and Toronto?
These products are priced by unit, so specific treatment costs vary with the product used and individual patient dosage. Treatment costs usually end up being comparable between products because cheaper products like Dysport typically require more units per treatment area than BOTOX.
Combining Injectable Treatments
In the hands of our skilled injectors, it is generally safe to combine BOTOX COSMETIC and dermal fillers in one treatment. Neuromodulators relax and smooth wrinkles caused by muscle movements. Dermal fillers replace volume around the eyes and on the cheeks and smooth away facial folds. Combining these two types of cosmetic injections, called a nonsurgical or liquid facelift, provides comprehensive anti-aging results.
Alternatives to BOTOX
Prescription wrinkle injections like BOTOX are only one of a number of non-surgical modalities that can be used to give skin a younger, smoother appearance. Other options, discussed in detail elsewhere on this site, include the following:
In addition, surgery is an option – especially for severe skin laxity and deep, well-established wrinkles. Patients can find details about facelift, brow lift and neck lift surgery on the applicable pages of the surgical section of this site. And for patients looking to reduce the submental fat that causes a double chin, BELKYRA™ injections can target fat cells without surgery.
Who Should Not Get Wrinkle Treatments Like BOTOX?
In general, adverse reactions with botulinum toxin A are extremely rare. Our experienced injectors take care to carefully screen each patient during a personal consultation. While neurotoxins can be safely administered for most people, they are contraindicated in certain populations, including in those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or suffer from neuromuscular diseases.

As an experienced, Royal-College certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Weinberg is devoted to helping patients reach their cosmetic goals. For over 25 years, he has built a reputation as one of the best plastic surgeons in Mississauga through expertise, experience, and dedication to his patients.
With extensive experience in medical applications of BOTOX®, Dr. Schiffer has dedicated many years to perfecting the artistic application of neuromodulators and fillers. Her vast experience, in-depth training, gentle approach, and natural-looking results have earned her a loyal following of cosmetic injectables patients.
As a premier injectable provider, our practice has a longstanding record of BOTOX patients who are happy with their results. It is important to recognize that neuromodulator treatments can have side effects. For this reason, it should only be administered by medical practitioners with extensive training and experience in its use.
As is expected for any injection procedure, temporary tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bruising have been associated with the injection. For a more detailed list of all reported side effects, patients are encouraged to read the official drug monograph. We will review possible risks with you during your consultation.
Is BOTOX better than fillers?
While both are injectable treatments used for facial rejuvenation, one is not better than the other. They work in different ways and have different uses.
BOTOX and other neuromodulators treat dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet caused by facial muscle contractions. It takes a few days for results to begin to develop.
Dermal fillers help patients look younger by restoring facial volume around the eyes and on the cheeks and softening nasolabial folds (smile lines), lip lines, and other signs of aging around the mouth. Fillers also enhance the lips, nose, and chin. Results are instant and can last up to 2 years, depending on the filler and treatment area.
Because they provide complementary facial rejuvenation, BOTOX and dermal fillers can be used together for a “liquid facelift.”
What’s the best age to start getting wrinkle injections?
These injections are best to start when you begin to be bothered by dynamic lines and wrinkles. If you are in your 20s and would like to prevent them from forming in the first place, you can have preventative BOTOX (or another neuromodulator) injections.
What is baby BOTOX?
Baby BOTOX has two definitions. It involves using small doses of BOTOX to prevent wrinkles in younger people or administering diluted BOTOX injections into the skin to enhance and rejuvenate the complexion. Learn more in this blog post.
Can it really prevent wrinkles?
When younger patients have small doses of BOTOX on a consistent schedule, they can prevent wrinkles from forming for years.
What happens if you stop getting BOTOX injections?
You can stop having BOTOX injections at any time; just be prepared for your lines and wrinkles to gradually return (or start forming if you’ve been using BOTOX proactively).
Is the treatment worth it?
As one of the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic treatments, BOTOX injections are certainly worth it to many adults. When performed by an experienced practitioner, they are safe, effective, and convenient.
How safe are injectable treatments?
Injectable wrinkle treatments are safe when performed by a qualified, experienced medical injector who screens the patient properly.
Should I avoid anything following my treatment?
While no downtime is needed after these treatments, we recommend the following precautions for optimal results and to avoid complications:
Avoid rubbing or massaging the injection site for 24 hours
Wait on applying makeup until the next day
Hold off on strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours
Don’t lie down or bend over at the waist for about 4 hours
Wait for about 24 to 48 hours before drinking alcohol or taking blood thinners
