What Breast Implant Size Is Right for Me?
One of the first decisions women think about when considering breast augmentation is implant size. While you might like to achieve a specific bra cup size, it’s important to understand that there are no standards for this measurement. Therefore, when choosing the implant size, the implant width is most important. As the size of the implant increases, so does its width. An implant that is too wide can cause complications by putting stress on your existing breast tissue. An implant that is too narrow may provide unattractive results such as breasts that are set too far apart. Dr. Weinberg will account for your existing breast tissue and your unique anatomy when determining the implant size that will help you attain your desired result.
Are Round or Teardrop Implants Better?
The shape of the implant you choose – either round or teardrop – will influence the appearance of your breasts after surgery.
Round implants are most commonly used in North America because the appearance of increased fullness in the upper breast, which can sometimes enhance cleavage, is most popular among North American women. We offer a wide selection of round implants with varying profiles and the versatility of extra filling for added fullness.
Teardrop implants, also called contoured, are shaped more like a natural breast with extra fullness along the bottom. Two options are the NATRELLE® 410 silicone-filled implants and Mentor’s contoured implants.

What Type of Breast Implant Is Best, Saline or Silicone?
There is no one “best” type of breast implant; each has its benefits and limitations. When a woman comes in for a breast augmentation consultation, Dr. Weinberg asks questions about her lifestyle and cosmetic goals. These factors help him determine the most appropriate type of breast implants for his Toronto and Mississauga patients.
Silicone Gel Breast Implants
Cohesive silicone gel implants have a firm, solid core made out of silicone that holds its shape and provides a softer, more natural feel than saline implants. A rupture with this type can only be detected through an MRI or mammogram because the implant will not deflate. Silicone implants have a higher incidence of capsular contracture than those filled with saline, but this may be reduced by surface texturing. The high quality, medical grade implants in routine use in North America should not be confused with so called PIP implants, which were manufactured in France of industrial grade silicone. Women who have undergone implant surgery in Europe who have concerns about PIP implants may wish to book a consultation with Dr. Weinberg.
Saline Breast Implants
Saline implants have a silicone outer shell that is filled with sterile saltwater after it is in place. Compared to silicone implants, saline implants require smaller incisions and are less expensive. If a saline implant leaks or ruptures, it will deflate rapidly. These implants also are more likely to show rippling

The implant profile specifies the forward projection of the implant from the chest wall in relation to the width of the implant. Dr. Weinberg can help you choose from a variety of profiles to provide results that are tailored to your individual body type. Options include:
High (full and extra full)
Why Would You Get Textured Breast Implants?
Breast implants are available with smooth and textured surfaces. Implants are textured to help prevent shifting, this concern is most important with contoured implants. Texturing may also help prevent capsular contracture.
How Do I Choose the Right Breast Implants for Me?
There are many implant choices available from reputable companies such as Allergan and Mentor in both saline and cohesive gel implants in round, shaped, smooth or textured styles. This variety of options provides Dr. Weinberg great surgical flexibility to help him provide personalized results for each patient.
Allergan offers more than 100 different saline-filled breast implants options. For those who prefer the natural look and feel of silicone gel-filled breast implants, there are more than 140 different options. The Allergan 410 silicone-filled breast implant alone is available in more than 120 different combinations of height, width, projection and cohesiveness, to deliver a shaped aesthetic outcome that many women and surgeons feel is the best available today. The INSPIRA implants have expanded women’s choices further, especially in the realm of round silicone filled implants.
Mentor produces an ingenious implant that offers the advantages of silicone gel implants with an inner lumen that is filled with saline and can be adjusted in volume for several months post surgically. Dr. Weinberg will help you choose the options that are best suited to your body and desired results.
For women who are unhappy with their current breast implants, either because of complications or a simple dissatisfaction with size or shape, Dr. Weinberg also performs breast implant revision surgery.
