Ultherapy®

One of the early signs of aging is lax skin caused by the natural aging process combined with the effects of sun exposure. Ultherapy® is an effective, non-surgical skin tightening treatment available at our Toronto and Mississauga, Ontario, practice that's popular with both women and men. Unlike other non-invasive skin tightening procedures, Ultherapy® targets the deeper skin layers without disrupting the skin's surface.

How Does Ultherapy® Work?

Using ultrasound technology, Ultherapy specifically targets the deep foundation below the skin. Typically, cosmetic surgery is needed to address the tissue in this deeper skin layer. Treatments that use laser or radiofrequency technology deliver energy through the skin's surface, which Ultherapy avoids. Instead, it stimulates the body’s natural collagen-building process to both tighten and lift the skin over time. Why is collagen important? It's a natural protein the provides the skin with youthful firmness. As we reach our late 20s and early 30s, the production of new collagen slows dramatically.

Better Non-Surgical Skin Tightening

Ultherapy is unique among non-invasive skin tightening treatments because it uses time-tested ultrasound technology that stimulates new collagen production without affecting the skin's surface. At The Mississauga Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Clinic, you'll have the peace of mind that comes with being treated under the supervision of an experienced, Royal College-certified plastic surgeon. The benefits of Ultherapy include:

  • Customization: With Ultherapy, providers can see the layers of tissue they are treating, ensuring they deliver treatment to where it will be most beneficial.
  • Long-lasting results: By triggering the production of new collagen, Ultherapy results can last for years.
  • Results after 1 treatment: The majority of Ultherapy patients need only a single treatment session to get visible results.

Dr. Michael J. Weinberg is a Royal College certified plastic surgeon, and is committed to helping you achieve a youthful and vibrant appearance.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Ultherapy?

Women and men in their early 30s who are noticing the initial signs of facial aging—sagging neck skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and the onset of jowls—benefit significantly from Ultherapy treatments. By replenishing collagen, Ultherapy improves the skin's tone so that it appears more youthful and healthy.

Good candidates for Ultherapy include men and women who want to:

  • Improve the skin's elasticity
  • Create a more lifted appearance
  • Treat skin with mild sun damage

Ultherapy is often used to treat:

  • Crow's feet and droopy lids around the eyes
  • Sagging brows and temples
  • Fullness under the chin to create a more defined jawline
  • The chest and neck for the décolletage

Ultherapy patients don't require plastic surgery to get the desired results. We can determine if you can benefit from Ultherapy® after examining your skin's tone and elasticity during the consultation. Some patients concerned about the appearance of a double chin who still have good skin elasticity may be better suited for BELKYRA® injections or neck liposuction. Dr. Weinberg may also recommend combining Ultherapy® as part of a non-surgical facelift that also includes fillers and prescription wrinkle-reducing injections.

How Much Does Ultherapy Cost?

The cost of an Ultherapy treatment depends on various factors, but it is surprisingly reasonable and in the same range as many cosmetic injectable treatments. The primary factor is the area being treated. We customize treatments for each patient, and a specific price quote is provided after your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ultherapy

Can Ultherapy treat a "turkey neck?"

Loose neck skin is one of the most significant cosmetic concerns for both women and men. Ultherapy® is cleared by the Health Canada specifically to tighten and lift neck skin that causes a "turkey wattle" as we age.

Is Ultherapy effective for the chest?

Yes. People who are self-conscious about wearing low-cut necklines that reveal wrinkles or sun damage on their upper chests can get Ultherapy® treatments to minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles in that area.

Does Ultherapy hurt?

During an Ultherapy treatment, ultrasound energy delivered to the skin's deeper layers causes controlled injuries that trigger the body's natural healing process to produce collagen. The comfort level of patients during the procedure varies, but the sensation experienced lasts only when the energy is delivered.

Do I need to take time off after an Ultherapy treatment?

Ultherapy procedures don't require downtime, and patients can resume routine activities, including returning to work. There may be some slight redness after the treatment that fades after a couple of hours.
