Surgical Consultations

Our patient coordinator, Sandy, will begin your consultation by walking you through the intake paperwork. She will then ask you to share your reasons for visiting our Mississauga or Toronto clinic for plastic surgery and describe the changes you’d like to attain. Next, she will explain the procedures you’re interested in, any alternatives, and answer your questions.

After meeting with Sandy, you will meet with Dr. Weinberg for an in-depth discussion of your procedures of interest. He will review Sandy’s notes, answer any remaining questions, explain both the benefits and the risks of your procedure in detail, and propose a treatment plan to help you attain your desired look. This visit is your opportunity to get to know Dr. Weinberg and determine whether you feel comfortable choosing him as your surgeon.

Sandy will complete your consultation by reviewing the details of the surgical procedures you are considering and giving you:

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Weinberg. Not only is he an expert in his field, he is warm, friendly, he listens well, he is sensitive and understanding and above all… a true professional and everything we hope our health professionals to be.

General Risks

During the consultation process, and again prior to surgery, we will make sure you understand both the benefits and the risks of any plastic surgery procedures you are considering. Some of the general risks common to most surgical procedures include bruising, swelling, bleeding, and discomfort, as well as the possibility of infection, delayed healing, skin breakdown, asymmetric results, altered sensation, scarring, blood clots, or the need for a second surgery.

Fortunately, serious occurrences are very uncommon, particularly with procedures performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. Weinberg. In addition to the general risks of surgery, there are always specific risks for each procedure, and while it is again rare for these to be serious, they should be reviewed with you in a straightforward and honest fashion by any reputable surgeon prior to a procedure.

Scheduling Your Surgery

If you are ready to move forward with your surgery, Sandy will take care of scheduling while you’re here. You will be asked for a 10% deposit to reserve time in our surgical schedule. If you want to think it over or return with a friend or family member, Sandy will schedule a second appointment. Dr. Weinberg and his staff will not rush you into surgery; they want you to feel confident and excited about your decision.

When you are ready to schedule your surgery, Sandy will also schedule a preoperative appointment that will take place approximately 2 weeks prior to surgery. At that appointment, we will review the procedures that you have chosen and postoperative care and help you complete any necessary paperwork. The balance of the fees for surgery will be due in full at that time. For more information, visit Planning Your Surgery.

Special Considerations for Breast Procedures

If you are considering a breast enhancement procedure such as breast augmentation or a breast lift, we will use our advanced 3-D Imaging system to show you how you could look. After you meet with Dr. Weinberg, you will be asked to change into a surgical gown in private and then be shown to our VECTRA room, where we will take digital images of you from multiple angles simultaneously. After you change back into your clothes, Dr. Weinberg will sit with you at a computer to review how you could look with a variety of breast implant options. These VECTRA images will help you and Dr. Weinberg make decisions regarding your breast implant size, shape, profile, and placement.

Nonsurgical Consultations

When you visit us for a non-surgical treatment, you may meet with our patient coordinator, Sandy, or you may meet directly with one of our specialists, such as our medical aesthetician, registered nurse, staff neurologist, or expert injector, either Dr. Weinberg or Dr. Schiffer, depending on the procedure you are considering. Our staff will ask you about the improvements you’d like to attain and explain possible treatment options. Feel free to ask questions and express any concerns. Sandy will also tell you about current specials that may interest you.

Staff will provide additional information about the treatments you are considering, answer your questions, and provide a cost estimate. There is no charge for this consultation. Injectable wrinkle treatments, facials, peels, and other medical spa treatments can often be performed at your first appointment. Some non-surgical treatments such as IPL, and laser hair removal, fat reduction will need to be scheduled for a future date as they require preparation of the skin or a longer appointment.
