Hyaluronic Acid is the chief component of Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, and Voluma, the most commonly used dermal fillers. Voluma is the most recent addition to this list, and is a particularly thick and long lasting agent .Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring chemical present in all our tissues, particularly skin and joints. It is a molecule that attracts water, and is therefore ideal for plumping up areas where we have lost tissue. It is administered by injection, and the results are immediate,  typically lasting 6 months or longer,  and sometimes lasting as long as a year! Who Shouldn’t have Hyaluronic Acid Filler?

If you are pregnant or breast feeding, it is best to wait to have filler. If you take strong blood thinning medication like Coumadin, you probably should not have dermal filler. While lesser blood thinners like Aspirin, green tea and vitamin E are not absolute contradictions to filler, you can minimize the risk of bruising by avoiding these for a few days prior to treatment.
