As always the clinic has been humming with activity. Dr. Weinberg was invited yet again to appear on Rogers cable 10, this time to demonstrated injection with Voluma, live on Television. He and Dr. Schiffer attended the prestigious FACE aestheitic meeting, and also the CLASS symposium, a members only meeting for the Canadian Laser and Aesthetic Surgery Society. Both were highly imformative. Cathy Mackay also attended the FACE meeting for aesthetic nursing and reported it to be one of the best meetings yet. Dr. Weinberg was also invited as a guest speaker to the Toronto Women’s show and lectured at the medicis booth on Liposonix, and demonstrated injections with Restylane.

Upcoming Events

Dr. Weinberg has been participating in the filming of an episode for the hit televisoon show Plastic Makes Perfect, which will hopefully air in the next few months. We will keep you posted on the date.

What is IPL?

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light Lherapy, is a treatment in which light is transformed into heat energy when it reaches the collagen layer of the skin. There is no damage done to the surface of the skin. It is used to elliminate or soften brown spots or other discoloration or uneven pigment that can result from repeated sun damage, as well as reducing the appearance of broken blood vessels, which are common in skin conditions like Rosacea. It involves a 20 minute session, in which you will experience a repeated mild stinging or snapping sensation on the skin , much like an elastic band being gently snapped against the skin. This is usually not particularly uncomfortable and does not require any anaesthetic but a topical numbing agent can be applied if need be. A cool gel is placed on the skin first, along with dark goggles. Afetrward the skin will appear pinkish or reddish, anywhere from a few hours to a few days. It i simportant to wear sun screen after the procedure.

Optimal results require 4 to 6 treatments on roughly a monthly basis. This will result in long term improvement in texture and skin tone with a reduction in brown age spots and broken blood vessels. The ideal candidate for this treatment is a fair skinned individual with a history of sun exposure or Rosacea.
