The LipoSonix machine uses high frequency, focused ultrasound to shrink fatty deposits. This machine is distinct from liposuction in that it does not require any incisions, making it ideal for those with localized areas of unwanted fat, and is in general better for somewhat smaller reductions than those achieved with liposuction.

Liposuction Procedure
Liposuction is an ideal procedure for removing discrete pockets of fat. It is performed by using a cannula (surgical wand), which is placed through a small incision to suction away the targeted fat cells. Using the tumescent technique, Dr. Weinberg infuses the areas to be liposuctioned with a saline (salt water) solution that also contains a local anesthetic. For small to moderate size areas, patients do not require a general anesthetic. This technique allows patients minimal downtime, and many of our Mississauga and Toronto liposuction patients can return to work the next day.

Liposuction usually takes 1 to 3 hours, depending on how many areas are being treated. Smaller areas are ideal for local anesthetic, while larger areas may require the use of general anesthesia. Cost & Related Procedures
Liposuction is among the most affordable cosmetic surgery procedures. The cost depends on the size of the area to be treated, as well as whether the procedure is performed under local or general anesthetic. Liposuction can be combined with other procedures including breast augmentation or a tummy tuck, typically as part of a Mommy Makeover package, which can reduce the overall cost to patients.
After Your Procedure
Depending on the amount of fat removed and the number of locations treated, patients may return to work within 24 hours to 1 or 2 weeks after treatment. Those having liposuction of the abdomen, hips, buttocks or thighs are asked to wear a support garment such as Spanx® post-operatively for 1 to 2 days. Patients can usually return to exercise and other strenuous activity within 2 to 4 weeks. Full recovery from bruising and swelling can take anywhere from 1 to 6 months. The slimmer contour achieved after liposuction can be maintained with a sensible diet and regular exercise.
